Homework & Homework Folders
Students who have internet access at home are also encouraged to visit the Typing Club website to work on their typing skills several times throughout each week. Teacher recommendation: At least 10 minutes per night.
Students will bring their Homework Folders home each night and return them to school each day. Please check the "Keep at Home" side of your child's folder for any papers that must come home throughout the week (and that won't be in the Monday Folder). Also, students are expected to fill out a Homework Log each day which will show what their assignments are and when they are due. This is where students will keep their Monthly Reading Log. For clarification on homework or projects please check the Homework Tab on this website.
- Your student will have homework almost every night, Monday-Thursday.. It is due the following morning for full credit. It should take about 30 minutes per night maximum to complete.
- Students will fill out their weekly homework log AT SCHOOL AS PART OF OUR ROUTINE to help keep track of assignments, due dates, and important reminders.
- Students are expected to read for 15-20 minutes nightly. Reading may include independent reading, reading to a younger child or an adult, and being read to. A combination of all three will help build fluency and reading ability. [We do have reading time in class on most days, yet reading at home is the best way to ensure that your child is meeting their AR comprehension goals, and reading fluency grade level goals.]
- Students will have a Reading Log where they will keep track of how many pages they read.
- Students who have internet access at home are also encouraged to visit ST Math and complete online math practice several times a week. Teacher recommendation: JiJi Fluency - 10 minutes each night, JiJi levels – 10-15 minutes per night.
- Students who do not bring their homework will complete it during recess.

Snacks
I encourage parents to send a small, healthy snack for recess time. Snack/breakfast is also available for purchase from the cafeteria (see menu information).
We have a drinking fountain in our class which students are allowed to access during the day. If a student wants to have a water bottle to drink from, students may bring a bottle with a spout-type top. Please do not put these into the freezer. They will create puddles o the desktop. Students not using their water bottle responsibly may lose the chance to have their water bottle in class.
